AVPL was incorporated in February 2014, as a subsidiary of MAJ Aviation, an established Singapore Maintenance-Repair-Overhaul (MRO) company. Its founding executive directors are Dr Chong Chee Leong, Dr Khoo Eng Tat, and Mr Khoo Beng Kiat, who is also the CEO of MAJ Aviation. They are driven by the vision to make AVPL a global technology solution provider of choice in 3-Dimensional visualisation.
The name Aviation Virtual reflects the genesis of the company that took root when the idea to develop the first complete 3D Immersive Virtual Reality solution for conducting Aviation Maintenance Training was seeded. Since then, AVPL has looked beyond this industry vertical to branch into other industry verticals where applications of this visualisation technology could offer a head start advantage to companies.
Faced with this expanded scope and increasingly optimistic growth potential, AVPL quickly transformed itself into a total solution provider that will continuously and innovatively revolutionize 3D virtual reality visualisation for a new paradigm in transmedia interactivity, where one cannot differentiate between reality and virtuality. The founders are convinced that there exists a myriad of applications beyond training needs, and through its Design Thinking mindset, sought to diligently and conscientiously work with potential industrial clients and authority partners to seek and integrate the appropriate suite of technological solutions. AVPL intends to build on its capabilities in technology integration and 3D visualisation content development to capitalize on the continuous stream of emerging and enabling technologies in both hardware and software to meet customers’ needs and create new business opportunities.
Financially, AVPL has a paid up capital of over S$1 million. Technically, it had demonstrated the concept for Aircraft Maintenance Trainer (AMT) using the immersive virtual reality system (IVRS) or cave platform during the 2014 Singapore Airshow. Innovatively, it is working on a CAAS Aviation Innovation Project grant to develop its conceptualised AMT into a “gold standard” trainer with state-of-the-art 5-Wall IVRS for complete look-up visuals, hand-based gesture interactivity and a support Training Management System. Strategically, AVPL has built on its immersive 3D application capabilities to engage the Changi Airport Group to provide the architectural visualization solutions for its Changi Airport Terminal 5 project.
AVPL has been operating for over a year and establishing its credentials as an innovative company. With its focus on application research and design of complete solution for end users, AVPL has built a strong technical team comprising two PhDs who have been involved in research in the domain of 3D Simulation/content/enterprise and highly competent technical staff with the relevant skillset for both front end and back-end support. It firmly believes that it can make tomorrow’s virtual reality solutions a reality for enterprises today.
