JOB Discribtion:
Our group works on sales and trading systems. We have a number of such systems deployed across the globe for different desks, asset classes and regions. These systems can encompass numerous components ? processes and libraries and have their own unique workflow, technical and business requirements. For example, the London Single Name Cash trading desk, the HK Derivatives desk and the global basket trading sales desk are very different from each other.
We are looking for a sharp and confident individual who can understand such complex functional and technical systems and be a technology enabler for the desk they are aligned to. You would work to implement these requirements including analysis, design, implementation, integration, testing and deployment. Most development work for the processes and libraries would be done by the relevant development teams. However, any customized development for the system, mainly perl and shell scipts would be done by the system integrator. You would also be responsible for deployment aspects, making the relevant configuration changes, looking at aspects like maintainability, scalability and performance of the system etc.
You will need to work extensively with different IT and functional groups, through the different upstream and downstream dependencies, looking at how to configure, extend and re-factor the system. Often it would involve setting up system or workflow ground up. An ideal candidate will demonstrate excitement for new technology and an eagerness to learn. The environment is high pressure and a successful candidate will need to be able to handle competing demands on their time and manage their own work to deadlines. Flexibility in outlook is essential. The team is distributed globally & the position will require working effectively with colleagues in remote locations as well as occasional business travel.
