Job Description:
Responsibilities:
1. Working directly on application / technical problem identification and resolution, including off-shift and weekend support functions
2. Participating in integrated testing and user acceptance of application or infrastructure components
3. Working with vendors on the integration of purchased application(s) and/or infrastructure
4. Designing and implementing processes, or process improvements, to aid in development and support
5. Monitor Remedy queue and group inboxes for new requests.
6. Monitor notifications for application errors, warnings and server availability.
7. Serve as SME for end-user questions and requests for assistance.
8. Periodically modify FlexNet license & options files per customer or vendor request.
9. Investigate customer licensing / access issues.
10. Perform scheduled upgrades, patch installations, etc.
Candidate Profile:
Qualifications:
1. Computer-related or Engineering-related four year College or University Degree (or equivalent)
2. Zero to two years of progressively responsible IT job-related experiences
3. Knowledge of the latest technology in programming languages, computing hardware & software and current development processes and tools
Desired Qualifications:
1. IT experience related to programming, integration or infrastructure
2. Computer related or Engineering related Masters degree
3. Experience managing License Management applications (FlexNet, FlexLM, RLM, Sentinel, etc.), working with vendors on license renewals, and working with application owners & end users on license related issues.
4. Experience managing Notification & Alerting systems (TelAlert or similar)and working with end users on alerting related issues.
5. Systems Administration experience with Windows Server (2003/2008) & Red Hat Enterprise Linux (5 & 6)
6. Cross-functional application administration experience with understanding of client/server configurations
7. Experience with PERL or UNIX shell scripting
8. Knowledge of LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, etc.
9. Strong technical skills and experience with various information technology environments
10. Troubleshooting and self driven problem diagnosis & resolution skills
11. Knowledge of ITSM processes (incident, change, and problem)
12. Ability to effectively work across multiple organizational groups with a working knowledge of Caterpillar’s technical infrastructure (Application/Server/Network/Database)
